Spanish tradition extends the Christmas season to 6 January, the day when the Three Wise Men arrive in town and put on marionette puppet shows, dances and concerts. The “cavalcade” starts at the San Juan de la Cruz square and ends in Cibeles, through the Paseo de la Castellana and Recoletos avenues.
One of the best known places in the city. Plaza Mayor is the greatest symbol of the so-called “Madrid de los Austrias”. Felipe II commissioned its construction and his successor, Felipe III, whose statue in the center of the square, was the one who finished it. Witness to over five centuries of History, today it is a must-see for those who want to learn more and enjoy one of the most unique locations in the city.
